Stuttgarter Zeitung App focuses on the Mobile Publishing Solution

“StZ Digital Plus” was originally developed for iPad and based on the mobile Publishing Solution “APP” Version 2.0 by Neofonie Mobile. The newly created “StZ digital Plus” app combines comfort functions with multimedia-enhanced content that ensures first-class reading pleasure.

Automated content generation

High performance and usability

In order to meet the growing market of tablet readers, an iPad app was to be developed for the Stuttgarter Zeitung’s previous e-paper. In addition to high performance and usability, the main requirement was to commercialize the publishing house’s offerings via the app. In addition, the display of the content was to be automated and designed in a resource-efficient manner.

Mobile Publishing Platform

StZ digital Plus App

The “StZ digital Plus” was developed based on the Mobile Publishing Platform Anchor from Neofonie Mobile. The platform enables the content from the publisher’s system to be automatically played out on mobile devices and optimally adapted to the iPad medium in terms of presentation and navigation. To ensure that the user always receives up-to-date information from Stuttgart and the near districts. “StZ Digital Plus” downloads the daily edition of the Stuttgarter Zeitung, both in terms of content and design, on request the evening before.

Powerful App for the reader

High Performance

Updates of issues take place at night and in the morning and are made available to the reader as updated versions. The news from late evening and morning are thus integrated into the issue. The user can access previously downloaded content during the download process. To enrich the issue, picture galleries and interactive graphics are used, which are part of the issue and can therefore be used offline after the download. Videos are integrated into the stream as well. To ensure that an edition can also be downloaded quickly with a mobile data connection and to optimize performance, great importance was attached to the data volume of the output.

High Availability

InApp Purchases

The app offers InApp purchases of single issues as well as subscriptions. A separate login is available for publishing customers without the need to purchase via the AppStore. Additional functions such as tracking or share functions have been integrated. Various JavaScript technologies such as requireJS, pureMVC, jQuery, underscoreJS, Flexslider and JSON were used.

“With “StZ digital Plus” we offer, after “SZ Digital”, the second app of the SWMH publishing house, with which we can bring and commercialize our newspaper content to the iPad in an automated and optimized way. Neofonie Mobile’s APP solution offered ideal conditions for a synergetic implementation”.
